My Summer 2017 Reading List

Ah, summer. Thinking back to my undergraduate college days and reminiscing about long, lazy day spent wasting away in the summer sun next to the pool and drinking too much beer is probably one of my favorite things to do. A good book was never too far from my reach on these pool days either. While I can’t spend every waking moment at the pool now that I’m in post-grad work life, that doesn’t mean I can’t come up with a perfect Summer 2017 reading list! With vacations and long holiday weekends, a good list of books is a must for any summer.

I’ve rounded up a list of books that I’m planning on reading this summer and to make this post even more helpful for you, I’ve broken them up into two categories: fiction and nonfiction! The older I get, the more I enjoy reading non-fiction and self help books, anyone else? This list of mostly pool friendly summer reads has a little something for everyone!

I just found out that this book, which I read in probably middle or high school, is being made into a movie! This retelling of Shakespeare’s Hamlet stars Ophelia, Hamlet’s love interest, as the main character.

The Girls

If you know me, then you know of my true crime obsession. This book takes that true crime love to another level with a dramatic fictionalization of the Manson Family.

The Couple Next Door

If you’re a fan of gone girl type fiction, then you’ll love this book. Psychological thrillers are perfect summer and this one will keep you on the edge of your pool chair for sure!

Lean In for Graduates

My mom got me this amazing book for my graduation from graduate school and I can’t wait to dive right into it. This graduate edition of the popular book includes new chapters specifically for graduates. Get ready to be inspired (also make the perfect gift)!

I have seen this book pretty much everywhere and I can’t wait to pick it up. Since Justin and I started dating more than two years ago, I’ve found myself focusing much more on building my faith and I can’t wait to see what this book has in store for me. We face rejection on a daily basis, especially as a blogger and YouTuber, and learning to cope with and get past that rejection is definitely high on my list of priorities.

5 Love Languages Military Edition

Justin and I aren’t going to be doing any type of conventional marriage counseling prior to our wedding due to his busy schedule during the academic year but I have heard nothing but good things about the 5 Love Languages books! We’re specifically going to explore the Military Edition one since that will play such a big part in our lives.

I’m so excited to just jump right into these books and share my thoughts with y’all. I may even post some first impressions and reviews over on my YouTube channel so make sure to swing by there when you have the chance! Who else is excited to tackle their summer reading list? Be sure to let me know what you’re reading in the comment section! Bye y’all!
