When we made the decision to fly instead of drive for our move to Alaska I was so freaked out about the idea of flying with pets. Thankfully, we ended up having a pleasant experience flying with dogs in cargo and flying with a cat as a carry on. After getting tons of questions about our experience, I decided to round up everything you need to know about flying with pets!
Life, Lately is an ongoing series on Made in Mom Jeans where I’ll be sharing, well, life lately! You can expect to find all of the life updates you’re looking for here from how Jasper is doing to what we’re up to as a family to important blog and social media updates. In the first edition of Life, Lately I’ll be talking all about our move to Alaska, share a little more about the house, what it was really like living without Internet for a month and Jasper’s 2 month update!
PCS season for military families means leaving one home and moving to another. It can be so hard to make a house into a home when you know that your time there is short and that it’s just temporary, even if you own the home. I wanted to make sure that my family was cherishing every moment in each of our houses along this Army journey and I thought a great way to do that would be to write a letter to each of our homes along with taking photos of our first day in each home and our last day (give or take) in each home. This is my first open letter to our Fort Benning home, 307B.
I am so excited to finally be sharing with you Jasper’s birth story! Jasper Emerson Chamblee was born on Thursday, April 11th and our lives have been forever changed. It is my hope that by sharing my positive labor and delivery experience, I can inspire other women who are pregnant or may be afraid of getting pregnant.
Is it possible to have a morning routine when you’re knee deep in military life? In today’s post, Justin and I talk about how we created our military family morning routine and introduce you to a great new line of products from Gillette!

Things have been a little wild around here since Jasper made his appearance last week but I that hasn’t stopped me from adding tons of things to my shopping cart lately. I figured I would round up what I’ve purchased recently and what I’ve got my eyes on and share that with y’all today! Now that I’m no longer pregnant (!!!) I’m dying to get back into normal jeans and my normal style. I’ve been trying to find the perfect relaxed jean for mom life. I’ve also added two new TULA products to my skincare routine! What’s currently in your shopping cart?
I’m so excited to finally be sharing more of the photos from our Maternity Photoshoot with you guys today! It was so special to me that my dear friend, Melissa, who has been a friend to Justin and I almost our entire relationship, was able to capture such a special moment in our lives. She’s a fellow military spouse and I highly recommend checking out her photography website, The Photobrief, and chat with her about booking your session. She’s currently located out of Fort Benning, Georgia but will be heading to Fort Bragg, North Carolina soon!
What I Read is a monthly recap of the books I’ve read each month! In What I Read in January I share a little bit about how I chose the ratings for each book I read, why I chose to read these books, and talk a little bit about what my experience reading each one was like.
There are tons of checklists out there about what to pack in your hospital bag. It can easily be overwhelming for a first time mom who is trying to pack a hospital bag for the first time! I struggled with not wanting to overpack so I’m sharing what I’m packing in my hospital bag for both mama and baby in this post. I’ll be going back and updating it post-delivery to share what I actually used!
