AM Coffee Talk #18 - Unfollowing People on Instagram, Mom Jeans, + More!
Well well well, fancy seeing Y'all here! Welcome back to another Saturday Morning Coffee post! This is #18 (obviously by the title) and I'm so happy you're here! If you're new, you can check out previous SMC posts by clicking here. Basically, Saturday Morning Coffee is exactly what it sounds like. I sit down with a cup of coffee (or two but who's counting) and talk about things I loved/did/experienced/etc. the previous week! These posts are my absolute favorite to write each week because I really feel like I'm inviting you right to my table and gabbing about my week with my closest friends! So grab your coffee (or other beverage of choice) and come on in!
I'm not going to lie that the past week has been a huge struggle for me. The weather here in New York has felt anything but spring-like. I mean, it even snowed Friday morning! What. The. Crap. I've just felt in such a funk because of the weather and I really think it showed in my blog posts and especially on my Instagram this week. Luckily, the sun came out for a bit on Thursday (I stayed home from work to give myself a mental health day) and Friday so I was able to have my fiance take some cute pictures for the coming week.
Anyways, I hope that spring has finally sprung in your neck of the woods because we're still waiting for it here. More to follow on if it actually shows up or not. In other news, my birthday is literally 20 days away! How crazy is that? I can't believe the first week of April is gone. We have so much wedding planning stuff to do and traveling coming up and not to mention packing the entire apartment that I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed.
With all of that being said, let's get into the post for this week. Grab your coffee and we'll get started!
ONE | Your Survey Responses
I cannot say enough THANK YOUs to everyone who took a moment to respond to my latest Reader Survey regarding the upcoming rebrand. Your answers solidified which direction I want this blog to take but most importantly, warmed my heart. When I started this blog last June, I never could have imagined the community that would come out of it and I am so excited for the next chapter and to keep cultivating that community. I'm going to leave the survey open for another week so if you want to be a part of the rebrand click here.
TWO | Unfollowing People on Instagram
This past week I did something kind of dramatic: I unfollowed over 1,000 people on Instagram. The follow and unfollow game on Instagram has gotten so ridiculously out of control and my feed was so clogged up with random accounts (because I feel bad if someone follows me and I don't follow them back) that I wasn't seeing any of the posts I actually wanted to see. I knew it was time for a purge and I also knew that I would lose a lot of followers in the process. I've decided that when I finally hit 2,000 followers on Instagram, I'll do another giveaway so go ahead and give me a follow if you'd like!
THREE | Twitter
Speaking of how much I kind of hated Instagram last month, I've been using Twitter A LOT MORE recently. Twitter is kind of the place where I don't care about anything aesthetic related or "on brand" really so it's a much more candid platform for me. Twitter also makes it super easy to interact with people which is something I've really been enjoying. Head to my Twitter by clicking here.
FOUR | TopShop Mom Jeans
I can't believe I haven't spent a whole minute raving about these jeans yet. I got these jeans for my trip to Nashville and they basically made up one of my favorite outfits ever. I can't believe it took me so long to hop on the mom jeans trend! For a girl with hips, they are seriously so flattering and I can't wait to get my hand on the same pair in a darker wash. I plan on doing an entire blog post on how to style mom jeans but they're really so effortlessly easy to style.
FIVE | Bowling Dates
If you already follow me on Instagram then you'll know (given that Instagram actually shows you my posts) that Justin and I went on our first bowling date last night! We will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary at the end of April and it is seriously crazy that we've never gone bowling together before. We had so much fun! It's definitely a date night we'll be doing again real soon.
PS: It's a brand new month and that means another round of #AskDar! You can submit a question for next week's blogger question and answer blog post by clicking here and submitting your question! No topic is off limits. If you want to see the questions I've already answered, click here!
